The whereabouts of the Green SM taxi driver during the moments of the accident between the KRL and KA Argo Bromo Anggrek at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday (27/4/2026) have finally been revealed. Locals stated that the driver was already outside the vehicle when the collision happened. “The driver got out, sat on the side when the accident occurred,” said Askhin Burhan, a crossing volunteer, on Tuesday (28/4/2026). Askhin explained that before the accident, the gate was actually closed by locals. However, the taxi still proceeded. “Yes, the gate was closed, but the taxi forced its way through, broke through the gate, and then stalled in the middle,” he said. The car that stopped in the middle of the tracks could not be pushed out of the way. In that condition, the passing KRL train collided with the vehicle. Another local, Nanang (43), said the crossing is quite busy, especially during working hours. “It activates every five minutes during work hours. It’s rush hour, rush hour coming home from work, often,” he said. Nevertheless, he considered accidents at the location to be relatively rare. The last incident, he said, occurred about three years ago and involved a truck. “Accidents are rare, it was three years ago, during the incident it often dies in the middle,” he stated. Previously, the Cikarang-bound KRL number PLB 5568A was involved in a collision with the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek on the Gambir–Surabaya Pasar Turi route around 20:52 WIB on the platform at Bekasi Timur Station. The accident caused 15 KRL passengers to die and dozens others to be injured. The victims are currently being treated at several hospitals in the Bekasi area, while 240 passengers of the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek were reported safe. To date, the investigation process is still ongoing to ascertain the exact cause of the accident, including the chain of events that began from the incident at the crossing.
