The virality of tens of thousands of electric motorcycles reportedly for the operational use of Heads of Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) to inspect MBG kitchens has raised questions about their funding source. Finance Minister (Menkeu) Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa revealed that the budget for these motorcycles for SPPG heads is not included in this year’s procurement but is scheduled for 2025. “Clearly, there is none this year; I just checked again,” said Menkeu Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa when met ahead of a briefing for ministers, deputy ministers, and echelon I officials from ministries and agencies at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/5/2026). “That budget is from last year; there is none this year,” Purbaya emphasised. Regarding the status of the already available motorcycles and whether distribution will proceed as planned, he said it is necessary to ask the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Dadan Hindayana. “Ask Mr Chairman of BGN about the status,” he added. Previously, a video circulated on various social media platforms showing several motorcycles with BGN logos, sparking diverse speculation among the public. In an official response on Tuesday (7/4/2026), BGN Head Dadan Hindayana explained that the motorcycles budgeted from 2025 for SPPG heads have not yet been officially distributed. “The procurement of these motorcycles is indeed included in the 2025 budget. Their function is to support the operational needs of SPPG heads, but the motorcycles have not been distributed,” Dadan stated. Before distribution, the available vehicles must still go through administrative processes as state-owned goods (BMN) before they can be used. The realisation of the motorcycle procurement began gradually in December 2025. Regarding information circulating on social media about the procurement reaching 70,000 units, Dadan firmly stated that the news is untrue or a hoax. “The information about 70,000 units is not true. The total realised electric motorcycles number 21,801 units out of 25,000 units ordered in 2025,” Dadan said. Content circulating on social media shows electric motorcycles with BGN logos wrapped in plastic. This has not yet been confirmed, so the public is urged not to immediately share unverified information.
