Where are our youths?
Where are our youths?
From Kompas
Our beloved motherland is now in a state of turbulence because
of smog from forest fires. The smoke has even spread to
neighboring countries. Our President has twice conveyed his
apologies to our neighbors.
Malaysia has sent a fire fighting team to help extinguish the
hot spots. Australia has offered its services. Our armed forces
have joined in the fight against the fires and local inhabitants
have not remained idle either.
What concerns me greatly is the glaring absence of our youths
who should be in the forefront in the fight to extinguish the
fires. Do we not have a lot of youth and student organizations?
Where are they? We have not heard their voice. In my opinion,
we would not need to accept help from outside of the country if
our young people would rise as one man and go to the fields to
quell the fires. They could work in groups of firefighters, mask
makers, mask distributors and public kitchen operators.
Why is it that even their voice has not been heard so far? An
important question indeed.
