When Zulhas Meets Bengkulu Farmers: From the Fields to National Policy

JAKARTA – Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan is scheduled to undertake a working visit to Bengkulu Province on Friday (1/5). The visit aims to review the implementation of food security programmes while directly absorbing the aspirations of farmers in the area.

The Secretary General of the Bengkulu Provincial Government, Herwan Antoni, stated that the local government hopes the visit will have a real impact in strengthening the food sector and accelerating the implementation of national strategic programmes.

“The Bengkulu Provincial Government hopes this visit can provide a real impact in strengthening the food sector and accelerating the implementation of national strategic programmes in the region,” Herwan said in Bengkulu on Thursday.

The Bengkulu Provincial Government previously held a coordination meeting on Wednesday (29/4) to finalise preparations for the visit. The meeting discussed in detail the series of agendas to be carried out during the working visit.

Herwan emphasised that the Coordinating Minister for Food’s visit is not merely ceremonial, but rather an important momentum to strengthen communication between the central government and farmers in the region.

“This forum is expected to become an open dialogue space so that real issues in the field, from production to distribution, can be conveyed directly,” he said.

One of the main agendas of the visit is the inauguration of Purwodadi Market in North Bengkulu Regency. The inauguration will be carried out symbolically through the signing of a commemorative plaque at the Governor’s Office in Bengkulu.
