When Will the Southern Japek II Toll Road Open for Mudik Travellers?
Purwakarta, Kompas.com – The functional section of Southern Japek II has been prepared to facilitate smooth traffic flow during the 2026 Lebaran return journey. This toll road will serve as an alternative route from Sadang to Jakarta should congestion occur on the existing Jakarta–Cikampek toll road.
PT Jasamarga Japek Selatan has prepared for the functional operation of this section during the period of 15–30 March 2026; however, its use will be situational as it will only open when traffic conditions on the main route experience congestion.
The Director of PT Jasamarga Japek Selatan, Charles Lendra, stated that the section has been prepared and can be used at any time at the discretion of the police.
Charles explained that this route will not be operated 24 hours continuously as it only functions as an alternative route when congestion occurs on the Jakarta–Cikampek toll road.
In this functional operation, PT Jasamarga Japek Selatan has prepared a stretch of approximately 52 kilometres connecting Sadang to Setu.
For the time being, toll transactions for vehicles entering this section are conducted at the Kutanegara toll gate through a temporary barrier system.
“There is a barrier there for transactions, but after passing through the functional Southern Japek II, there is no toll tariff—it is free,” said Charles.
Charles also urged road users to comply with traffic signs and instructions from officers while traversing the functional section.
“(Maximum speed) should be 60 kilometres per hour,” Charles said.
Additionally, drivers are asked to ensure their vehicle is ready before entering the Southern Japek II toll stretch, including fuel condition, tyres, and driver condition to remain in optimal state during the journey.
