Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - PT Agincourt Resources (PTAR) has spoken out regarding the resumption of operations at the Martabe gold mine following approval from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLH). Currently, the company’s production activities have not yet commenced as it is still completing preparations. Senior Manager of Corporate Communications at PTAR, Katarina Siburian Hardono, confirmed that the government has permitted the Martabe gold mine in North Sumatra to resume operations. However, field operations are still awaiting the resolution of administrative and technical aspects. “Up to now, we have indeed not operated; we still need to carry out preparations and coordination to meet the requirements,” Katarina stated to CNBC Indonesia on Thursday (26/3/2026). Regarding the resumption schedule, Katarina explained that the company is preparing a production plan. The company assures that operational readiness, environmental aspects, and compliance with applicable regulations are the primary considerations before the mine fully reactivates. “Regarding the production plan, we will carry this out carefully, considering operational readiness, environmental aspects, and compliance with all applicable provisions. The company’s top priority is to ensure that mine operations run safely, responsibly, and sustainably,” she clarified. Although there is no definite target yet, the company welcomes the KLH’s decision to give the green light for the continuation of operations at the Martabe Gold Mine. Currently, coordination is ongoing, including with the KLH and other related ministries, to meet all regulations. The company is also committed to maintaining the environment and implementing occupational safety standards through coordination with the government. The company hopes that, once all requirements are fulfilled and the mine resumes operations, it will have a positive impact on the local community and regional government. “We hope that the return of mine operational activities can soon drive and support the recovery of economic activities in the area around the mine, including job sustainability, support for local businesses, and contributions to the regional economy,” she concluded.
