Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) (Persero) reveals plans to extend the LRT Jabodebek route to Bogor. Director of Portfolio Management and Information Technology at PT KAI, I Gede Darmayusa, confirmed that the plan is already included in the company’s master plan. He said that together with the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) they are still evaluating the extension plan from the perspectives of business potential, routes, Transit Oriented Development (TOD), and so on.

‘In the master plan, there used to be a plan to Bogor, if I’m not mistaken up to Baranangsiang. We, with DJKA, are of course re-evaluating the business potential, TOD potential, and so on, so that the large costs can be justified by an increase in passengers,’ Gede said at Dukuh Atas LRT Station, Friday (22/5/2026).

From the KRL side, Gede revealed that the Bogor line itself accounts for half of the daily passenger movements of the Jabodetabek KRL.

‘So if we are currently serving 1.1 million passengers per day, 500 thousand come from the Bogor line. So indeed the question of when the LRT can help reduce the load elsewhere in Bogor is very valid, and it is still under study—what route it would take, and so on,’ he said.

On that occasion, Gede said that they are studying adding a line towards Bogor up to Sukabumi. In addition, they are adding 678 KRL emplacements that can increase capacity to up to 80,000 people. Then, the Bogor line of KRL can reach 12 carriages.

Meanwhile, the LRT capacity, according to Gede, only reaches 6 carriages, which is half of the KRL capacity. Therefore, KAI is pursuing both plans to reduce occupancy.

‘Therefore, whatever we can do to reduce occupancy, so it is more comfortable in Bogor, we will do first. Besides that, we will study extending the LRT itself,’ Gede clarified.
