The isbat session to determine 1 Syawal 1447 Hijriah or Eid al-Fitr 2026 is a highly anticipated event. According to the official website of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the isbat session to establish 1 Syawal 1447 Hijriah or Eid al-Fitr will be held on 19 March. The session will coincide with the 29th day of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah.

The Director General of Islamic Community Guidance (Dirjen Bimas Islam), Abu Rokhmad, stated that the isbat session will be held at the H.M. Rasjidi Auditorium, Ministry of Religious Affairs office, Jakarta.

Abu said that preparations for the isbat session on 1 Syawal 1447 H have been conducted in accordance with applicable procedures, covering both substantive and technical support aspects.

“The implementation of the session is based on calculation data and verified crescent moon sighting results, and through a mechanism that is open to the public,” Abu said.

Furthermore, Abu noted that the isbat session will involve various elements, including astronomy experts from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), planetarium, observatory, representatives of Islamic community organisations, and other relevant agencies.

“Because it involves broad representation, the decision of the isbat session has strong religious legitimacy,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Director of Islamic Religious Affairs and Islamic Law Development, Arsad Hidayat, stated that technical preparations are being continuously refined, including coordination of crescent moon sighting monitoring at various points throughout Indonesia.

“From a technical standpoint, we have prepared support for session facilities and infrastructure, the crescent moon sighting reporting system, and coordination with crescent monitoring points throughout Indonesia. Hopefully, the session process can proceed in an orderly, accurate, and informative manner for the public,” Arsad said.

Arsad also appealed to the public to await the official government announcement after the entire session series is completed.

The isbat session will begin with a seminar on crescent moon positioning, followed by verification of crescent moon sighting reports from various regions, then the implementation of the isbat session and the official announcement of the determination of 1 Syawal 1447 H by the Religious Affairs Minister.
