When will the 2026 Eid al-Fitr Bonus be Paid? Here is the Schedule and the Regulations
With Eid al-Fitr approaching, many workers are asking about the 2026 Eid bonus payment schedule. The Eid bonus is a mandatory benefit that companies must pay to employees before religious holidays, including Eid al-Fitr for Muslim workers.
The regulations regarding the payment of the Eid bonus are stipulated in the Minister of Manpower Regulation Number 6 of 2016 concerning Religious Holiday Allowances for Workers/Labour in Companies. In this regulation, it is stated that companies are obliged to pay the Eid bonus no later than seven days before the holiday, or H-7.
This was also conveyed by the Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, who reminded companies to comply with this obligation and not delay the payment of the Eid bonus to workers.
When will the 2026 Eid al-Fitr Bonus be Paid?
Based on the 2026 calendar, Eid al-Fitr is expected to fall on 20-21 March 2026. If referring to the maximum payment period of H-7, then the 2026 Eid al-Fitr bonus must be paid no later than 13 or 14 March 2026.
This means that companies are obliged to transfer the Eid bonus to workers’ accounts before that date. If the company pays it earlier, it is of course allowed, as long as it does not exceed the maximum limit set by the government.
Who is Entitled to Receive the Eid Bonus?
The Eid al-Fitr bonus must be given to workers who have at least one month of continuous employment. Both permanent and contract workers are entitled to receive the Eid bonus according to the applicable regulations.
How Much is the 2026 Eid al-Fitr Bonus?
The amount of the Eid bonus refers to Article 2 paragraph 1 of the Minister of Manpower Regulation Number 6 of 2016, with the following provisions:
Workers with 12 months or more of service are entitled to receive an Eid bonus of one month’s salary.
Workers with less than 12 months of service receive the Eid bonus proportionally with the formula: length of service divided by 12 multiplied by one month’s salary.
As an illustration, if the length of service is only 8 months, then the Eid bonus calculation is 8/12 x 1 month’s salary.
What are the Sanctions if the Eid Bonus is Paid Late?
Companies that do not pay the Eid bonus on time may be subject to administrative sanctions in accordance with the provisions of the legislation. These sanctions can range from written warnings to restrictions on business activities.
Therefore, workers should note the schedule for the payment of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr bonus and ensure that their rights are fulfilled before the H-7 deadline. If the Eid bonus has not been paid close to the deadline, workers can confirm with the HR department or report to the local labour office.
