When Will Taufik Hidayat Stand Trial? Latest on the YTR False Imprisonment Case
The case involving the alleged detention and physical abuse of a woman, identified by the initials YTR (29), which involves Taufik Hidayat (30), continues to draw significant public attention. Many are now questioning when Taufik Hidayat will face trial, as the legal process remains in the investigation phase.
Recent developments indicate that law enforcement agencies are beginning to prepare for the trial stages, although no trial schedule has been established as of yet. The West Java Regional Police are still completing the investigation process, while the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office has formed a special team to oversee the case. Additionally, the Judicial Commission (KY) has confirmed it will monitor the proceedings once the case reaches the Bandung District Court.
As of now, Taufik Hidayat has not yet been tried because the case is still under investigation by the West Java Regional Police. Once the investigation is declared complete (P-21), investigators will transfer the suspect and evidence to the public prosecutor. Subsequently, the prosecutor will draft the indictment and submit the case to the Bandung District Court to schedule the first hearing. This means the trial schedule will only be set after all investigation stages are finished and the case files are declared complete by the prosecution.
In preparation for the prosecution process, the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office has formed a special team consisting of nine prosecutors. The Head of the Legal Information Section of the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office, Nur Sricahyawijaya, stated that this step was taken after receiving the Notice of the Commencement of Investigation (SPDP) from the West Java Regional Police Criminal Investigation Directorate.
“The SPDP is dated 15 June. The High Prosecutor’s Office immediately appointed nine prosecutors,” said Cahya.
The team of prosecutors will oversee the case from the investigation stage until the files are declared complete (P-21), followed by the transfer to the court. Based on initial investigations, the suspect allegedly carried out the detention and physical abuse of the victim at four different locations since 2024. As a result of the alleged criminal acts, the victim sustained serious injuries to several parts of her body and is currently undergoing intensive treatment at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung.
