Jakarta – The Eid Festival Allowance (THR) for ride-hailing drivers has once again drawn attention as Eid al-Fitr 2026 approaches. The government is ensuring driver partners and couriers for app-based transportation services receive the Festival Bonus (BHR) this year, with regulations currently being finalised to provide stronger legal certainty.

This assurance was provided by the Labour Minister, Yassierli. The government has confirmed that policy regarding the BHR for driver partners will be announced alongside the announcement of THR for private sector workers.

Currently, the government is conducting inter-ministerial coordination, including with the State Secretariat Ministry (Setneg), to complete the form of regulation to be issued. Options being prepared include issuing a Circular Letter or launching the policy through formal mechanisms.

This coordination process is being conducted to ensure that any regulations issued have clear administrative foundations and do not create multiple interpretations in the field. Once all finalisation stages are complete, the government will make an official public announcement.

In developing this policy, the Labour Ministry is also maintaining communication with several app-based transportation service providers. These platform companies are said to be demonstrating commitment to continuing the distribution of BHR to driver partners in 2026.

This reinforces signals that the ride-hailing driver bonus scheme in the form of BHR will be realised again, as it was in previous years. Nevertheless, technical details regarding the bonus amount and calculation method remain pending final government decisions.

Previous Scheme Based on 2025 Pattern

As a reference, in 2025 the government regulated the provision of BHR proportionally based on the performance of each partner. The bonus was provided in cash, calculated at 20 per cent of the average net monthly income over the previous 12 months.

This scheme meant that the amount received by each driver varied, depending on their level of productivity and individual performance. Partners with high activity levels and good performance stood to receive larger bonuses compared to those with lower activity levels.

Additionally, the distribution of BHR in the previous year took place at the latest seven days before Eid al-Fitr. This pattern is expected to remain the reference for the 2026 policy, although official details are still pending the latest regulations.
