When Will Idul Adha 2026 Takbir Start? Schedule and Guidelines
Takbiran Idul Adha has a different technique of performance than Takbiran Idul Fitri. In its execution, there are certain takbirs with different times of proclamation. So, when does Idul Adha 2026 takbir start and what is its recitation?
Types of Idul Adha Takbir
Citing the explanation from the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Idul Adha takbir is divided into two based on the time it is proclaimed, namely mursal takbir or mutlak takbir and muqayyad takbir.
Takbir mursal or mutlak takbir is takbir proclaimed without being bound to a specific time. This takbir may be read at any time during the Zulhijah days, which are encouraged to increase remembrance and takbir.
The time of mursal takbir can begin from the entry of 1 Zulhijah until before the Idul Adha prayer on 10 Zulhijah. However, in practice, it does not have to be performed continuously from the start of Zulhijah. Takbir is usually more lively and becomes the peak of syiar on the night preceding Idul Adha or the Night of Takbiran.
Meanwhile, muqayyad takbir or bound takbir is takbir read after the obligatory prayers. This type of takbir has a specific time that is bound after the obligatory prayers.
The time of muqayyad takbir starts from the Subuh prayers on 9 Zulhijah or the Day of Arafah until the Asr prayer on 13 Zulhijah or the end of the Tasyrik days.

The following are the takbir readings for Idul Adha in Arabic, Latin, and their meanings:
Arabic: اللهُ أَكْبَرُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَاللهُ أَكْبَرُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ وَلِلَّهِ الْحَمْدُ
Latin: Allahu akbar Allahu akbar Allahu akbar, laa ilaaha illallaahu wallaahu akbar, Allahu akbar walillaahil hamd.
Meaning: “Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. There is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest. Allah is the Greatest and all praise is for Allah.”
Takbiran Idul Adha is one of the important syiar in welcoming the Feast of Sacrifice. In addition to being proclaimed in mosques and prayer halls, Muslims are also encouraged to recite takbir personally as a form of glorifying Allah SWT during the Zulhijah month.
