When Will Harley-Davidson Bring LiveWire to Indonesia? Here's the Explanation

JAKARTA – Discussions regarding the introduction of electric motorcycles from Harley-Davidson in Indonesia are beginning to show promise. Although it cannot yet be confirmed when they will arrive, positive signals have been conveyed by PT JLM Auto Indonesia, the official distributor.

Operations Director of JLM Auto Indonesia, Irvino Edwardly, stated that Harley-Davidson’s electric motorcycle line falls under a separate entity known as LiveWire.

According to him, distribution of LiveWire is currently limited to certain markets, particularly the United States.

“Harley-Davidson has so far only appointed LiveWire for sale in their domestic market through the HD dealer network, exclusively for the US market share,” he said.

This statement underscores that the opportunity for Harley-Davidson’s electric motorcycles to enter Indonesia remains wide open, but it still hinges on global decisions.

For context, LiveWire is Harley-Davidson’s electric motorcycle line developed to address the global electrification trend. Currently, there are two main flagship models: LiveWire One and LiveWire S2.

The LiveWire One is marketed starting from US$16,499 or approximately Rp 282 million, while the S2 Motorcycles line is priced from US$11,999 or about Rp 205 million.

If it officially enters Indonesia in the future, LiveWire’s presence could expand options in the premium electric motorcycle segment, while strengthening Harley-Davidson’s transformation from a conventional brand to the electrification era.
