When will CPNS 2027 open? Here is the government's latest explanation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - News that the selection of Civil Servant Candidates (CPNS) will open in early 2027 has been widely discussed. The government has indeed mentioned a selection plan for that period, but the national registration schedule has not yet been determined.
Information about the opening of CPNS in early 2027 emerged after Minister for Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) Rini Widyantini said that teachers with Government Work Agreements (PPPK) are projected to have the opportunity to take the selection to become civil servants (PNS) in early 2027.
However, that statement cannot be directly interpreted as an announcement that CPNS 2027 registration for the general public has officially opened or has a definite schedule.
Is the early 2027 CPNS definitely open?
The government has conveyed a selection plan for PPPK teachers in early 2027. The plan relates to the opportunity for PPPK teachers to take the PNS selection after the government and the House of Representatives (DPR RI) discuss the status of PPPK teachers.
Meanwhile, as of 20 August 2026, there has been no official announcement containing a complete CPNS 2027 registration schedule, including registration dates, the number of national formations, details of agencies, and requirements for all prospective applicants.
Therefore, the public should distinguish between a selection plan or projection and an official announcement of the opening of registration.
Previously, the public had also widely discussed the opening of CPNS 2026. The State Civil Service Agency (BKN) in June 2026 emphasised that a poster claiming CPNS 2026 registration had opened was false information.
BKN stated that official information regarding the selection of State Civil Apparatus Candidates (CASN), including CPNS, is only announced through official government channels and the SSCASN portal.
BKN also emphasised that the ASN recruitment process must begin with the determination of national needs, approval of formations and an official announcement through the government portal.
How many CPNS 2027 formations are there?
To date, no official CPNS 2027 formation figures have been set for public announcement. Therefore, information about certain formation numbers circulating on social media cannot be used as a reference.
ASN needs will be determined based on government employee needs planning and government policy. BKN previously stated that the agency manages around 6.7 million ASN nationally based on June 2026 data.
That figure cannot be directly used to estimate the number of new CPNS formations because recruitment must be adjusted to the needs of each agency.
Who is said to have the opportunity in early 2027?
The government statement currently circulating specifically relates to PPPK teachers. They are projected to have the opportunity to take the PNS selection in early 2027.
This is different from the announcement of the opening of general CPNS selection for the entire public. For general applicants, the public still needs to wait for official decisions and announcements regarding needs, formations, requirements and selection schedules.
Although the official schedule is not yet available, prospective applicants can begin preparing a number of basic documents, such as identity cards, diplomas, academic transcripts and other supporting documents according to formation needs.
In addition to documents, ability preparation can also be done from now. Prospective participants can study Basic Competency Selection (SKD) material and follow developments in information about the selection mechanism.
Early preparation is important because the ASN selection process uses a computer-based system. BKN in several 2026 selection implementations again used the Computer Assisted Test (CAT) as a transparent and accountable selection system.
Beware of false CPNS 2027 information
The public also needs to be careful of information claiming to be from the government and asking prospective applicants to fill in personal data or make certain payments.
BKN previously reminded the public not to easily trust posters, chain messages or links that do not come from government channels. Information about ASN recruitment must be verified through official BKN channels, SSCASN and relevant government agencies.
Thus, the news that CPNS will open in early 2027 has a basis in the government’s plan regarding selection opportunities for PPPK teachers, but cannot yet be considered an official announcement of the opening of CPNS in general.
Members of the public who wish to take the selection should begin preparing documents and abilities from now, while waiting for official announcements regarding schedules, formations and requirements from the government.
