When Will CPNS 2026 Open? Here's the Latest Information You Need to Know
Many people are eagerly awaiting confirmation regarding the opening of the 2026 Civil Service Candidate (CPNS) selection. Enthusiasm and questions about registering for government positions continue to grow as the second half of 2026 approaches. This is because, in 2024, the CPNS opened in the second half of the year, specifically in August.
This moment is even more anticipated because the 2025 CPNS selection was not opened. This situation has led many prospective applicants to place high hopes on this year’s opening. Moreover, amid the turmoil of economic conditions exacerbated by escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East region.
So, when will the government open CPNS 2026? Let’s take a look at the latest information below that is important to know!
When Will CPNS 2026 Open?
Based on the latest developments, the government has not yet announced the official schedule and is still in the discussion and refinement stage of the recruitment scheme. Citing detikNews, in February, Minister of PANRB Rini Widyantini gave a signal that the 2026 CPNS selection has the potential to open. However, she emphasised that the government cannot rush to announce the schedule because it must ensure budget readiness and competency needs.
“We have already submitted to the Minister of Finance regarding budget readiness, right? We can’t just announce it suddenly, we can’t. We must know the competencies,” she said on Tuesday (24/2/2026).
Rini also expressed hope that recruitment can take place in 2026, focusing on fresh graduates to fill the significant needs of civil servants (ASN) due to many employees entering retirement.
Furthermore, the government currently confirms that the process is still in the finalisation stage. This was stated by State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi after the Coordination Meeting for Supervising the President’s Strategic Programme at the Ministry of Defence office. He said the recruitment scheme is still being formulated.
“Not yet, we are finalising it, we are formulating it,” he said on Tuesday (17/3/2026).
He also revealed that almost all ministries have submitted their staffing needs, but the exact number of formations cannot yet be announced because they are still considering priorities and the state’s fiscal capacity.
“In general, almost all the ministers present have conveyed their needs. But in this afternoon’s opportunity, we cannot yet provide detailed figures because the discussion then developed,” he continued.
Developments in the preparation for the 2026 CPNS opening are also supported by official documents. Based on information from the Samalanga Subdistrict website, there is a letter from the Minister of PANRB number B/1553/M.SM.01.00/2026 dated 12 March 2026 regarding the 2026 ASN needs addressed to government agencies.
The letter instructs each agency to propose the number and type of ASN positions through an electronic system, considering the budget, national priorities, and real needs such as the number of employees who will retire.
To date, there is no official schedule for the 2026 CPNS opening. However, looking at previous years’ patterns, the 2024 CPNS registration opened from 20 August to 10 September, while in 2023 it ran from 17 September to 6 October.
Based on that schedule, the 2026 CPNS selection is estimated to open around August to September 2026. For the official schedule, it still awaits the government’s official announcement.
