When the DKI Provincial Government Begins "Sweeping" Plecostomus Fish from Jakarta's Rivers

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will conduct a cleaning operation for plecostomus fish in five areas of Jakarta on Friday (17/4/2026). This activity follows instructions from DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung. “So, the cleaning of plecostomus fish will be carried out in five cities: Central Jakarta, South Jakarta, West Jakarta, East Jakarta, and North Jakarta,” said Pramono at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday (16/4/2026). Pramono also stated that he would personally visit the sites according to the assignments arranged by the Head of the Regional Head Bureau (KDH). Meanwhile, the Head of the Fisheries Division of the DKI Jakarta Food Security, Maritime, and Agriculture Service (KPKP), Eny Suparyani, confirmed the simultaneous capture operation for plecostomus fish in the five administrative cities of Jakarta. “Yes, tomorrow there will be a plecostomus fish capture operation in five areas,” said Eny. She mentioned that the activity will take place from 07:30 to 10:00 WIB. Eny explained the capture locations in each area. In West Jakarta, the capture will be conducted at Kali Semongol, Pegadungan Village, Kalideres Subdistrict, as well as at Kali Anak TSI, Cengkareng Subdistrict. In North Jakarta, the capture will be at Sungai Kendal, Rorotan Village, Cilincing Subdistrict, and Kali Danau Kodamar, West Kelapa Gading Village, Kelapa Gading Subdistrict. In South Jakarta, the capture will be at Pintu Air Outlet Setu Babakan – Kawasan Alam Bambu Perindu, Cipedak, Jagakarsa. In East Jakarta, the capture will be at Dermaga Eco Eduwisata Ciliwung, Cililitan Village, Kramat Jati Subdistrict, and Kali Buaran, Sukamto Street, Klender Village, Duren Sawit Subdistrict. Eny added that Governor Pramono Anung is scheduled to participate in the cleaning in North Jakarta.
