When SMA Muga Jogja Student Claims No OSIS Chairman Was Ousted for Criticising MBG
Student from SMA Muhammadiyah 3 (Muga) in Yogyakarta, Bayu Elnino, has issued a clarification following a stir on social media. Previously, he claimed to have been ousted from the position of OSIS chairman due to criticising the free nutritious meals programme (MBG). Here is his clarification.
In a clarification video uploaded to his personal Instagram account @bayuekni and the official account of SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Jogja, @smamugajogja, the student initially stated that he himself created the narrative on social media about the OSIS chairman being ousted for criticising the MBG programme.
“With this, without any coercion from any party, I clarify. First, there is no organisation called OSIS at our SMA. Second, I do not hold or participate in any organisation. Third, I am in year 12, and only this year the school received the Free Nutritious Meals. Furthermore, I am also a beneficiary of the Free Nutritious Meals. Fifth, no party from the National Nutrition Agency pressured me,” he said in the video viewed by detikJogja on Tuesday (7/4/2026).
“Furthermore, the statement I made yesterday is not true, and there is no ousting or coup at all. Lastly, there is no dismissal decree related to me. Therefore, with this, I offer my deepest and sincerest apologies from the bottom of my heart,” he continued.
The student also expressed apologies through text in the video upload.
“Official clarification, Bayu Elnino SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta, I apologise profusely for the commotion that occurred, I apologise profusely to the parties harmed by the circulating narratives above,” Bayu wrote in his upload on Tuesday (7/4/2026).
In the clarification video, Bayu appeared to be wearing an OSIS uniform.
Response from SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Jogja
Deputy Head of Student Affairs at SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Jogja, Muflikh Najib, confirmed the clarification. He also assured that no sanctions were imposed on the student.
“It’s done, he has made a clarification video. Yes (from Bayu himself), no pressure,” Muflikh said when contacted by reporters yesterday.
“Our main point is just to straighten things out and provide guidance, and to accompany,” he added.
Muflikh said that with the clarification, the school considers the issue resolved. He also stated that they would not investigate the previous viral video.
“For that (investigating the previous video), we are still waiting for confirmation from our superiors, our leadership. But for now, we will leave it as is because the clarification issue is settled,” he explained.
“If that is not stated (the intent and purpose of making the previous viral video), because perhaps Mas Bayu was in a condition where he was just following the trend, so to speak,” Muflikh continued.
Initial Viral on Social Media
Previously, a video went viral showing a young man named Bayu, claimed to be the OSIS chairman of SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Jogja, being ousted from his position after criticising the free nutritious meals programme (MBG). The school denied the viral rumour.
In the video uploaded to the X account @regar_oposisi, a young man introduced himself as Bayu and the OSIS chairman of SMA Muhammadiyah 3. In the 1 minute 17 second video, he claimed to have been ousted from his position after giving criticism of the MBG programme.
“Bayu OSIS chairman SMA 3 Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. Unilaterally ousted as OSIS chairman by the school for criticising and rejecting MBG. Please clarify @muhammadiyah,” read the tweet in the upload viewed by detikJogja on Monday (6/4/2026).
When asked for confirmation regarding the truth of the video, Muflikh confirmed that the young man is indeed named Bayu and is a year 12 student at SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Jogja.
However, Muflikh denied that Bayu is the OSIS chairman of SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Jogja. He also said he had called Bayu for clarification.
“Mas Bayu himself is not the OSIS chairman, not the IPM chairman, so Mas Bayu’s current position is year 12, while organisation officials are year 11, last year in year 11 Mas Bayu did not join the organisation and is not the chairman. He joined in year 10, but only for a few months then resigned,” he explained when met by reporters at SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Jogja on Monday (6/4).
“When we asked, the child himself said it was a lie, but we haven’t finished delving deeper because year 12 is having exams. For now, we can only say this,” Muflikh continued.
In addition, Muflikh said there was also an inconsistency in the timing of the MBG programme’s introduction at SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Jogja, which did not match Bayu’s statement in the video.
“We received MBG only this year, this year Mas Bayu is in year 12, the organisation is year 11. So everything stated is not true,” he revealed.
At that time, Muflikh said the school had no knowledge of when and where the video was made.
