When Pramono Demands Honesty in JAKI Reports...
JAKARTA - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has highlighted allegations of manipulation in reports on handling illegal parking through the JAKI app, which reportedly used artificially generated photos from artificial intelligence (AI). This finding emerged following complaints from residents who felt their reports were not followed up in reality, but instead provided with visual evidence suspected to be inconsistent with on-the-ground conditions. In response, Pramono said he has instructed the Jakarta Inspectorate to conduct an examination of regional officials in East Jakarta, from lurah (ward heads) to kepala suku dinas (department heads). Pramono stressed that he would impose strict sanctions on those proven to have violated the rules. He assessed that report manipulation cannot be tolerated as it harms the principles of government transparency. “Whoever is at fault must be punished. And this must not happen again, because for the Jakarta government, transparency is an important matter,” said Pramono. He also highlighted the alleged use of AI technology to falsify evidence of follow-up reports, especially if used to cover up unfinished work. “It’s better, for example, if it’s not finished, just say it’s not finished rather than doing it with AI, which essentially is deceiving. I have asked the Inspectorate to impose sanctions for that,” he continued. This case originated from resident complaints regarding illegal parking in the Pasar Rebo residential area, East Jakarta, which went viral on the Threads account. One account, @seinsh, stated that residents had reported the issue up to the kelurahan level and through the JAKI app. The reporter instead received follow-up evidence that was suspected to have been manipulated using AI technology.
