JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The bodies of three TNI soldiers who fell during the peacekeeping mission in Lebanon, namely Major (Posthumous) Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, Sergeant (Posthumous) Muhammad Nur Ikhwan, and Corporal (Posthumous) Farizal Rhomadhon, returned to Indonesia on Saturday night (4 April 2026). At Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and the sixth President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) directly welcomed the three fallen heroes. They came to pay their last respects to the bodies of Farizal, Ikhwan, and Zulmi. Following the incident that killed these TNI soldiers, the Commander has ordered the remaining peacekeeping troops in Lebanon to take shelter in bunkers. Through his X account, Prabowo stated that the Indonesian nation mourns the passing of the three TNI soldiers in their noble duty as UN peacekeeping forces in Lebanon. He emphasised his strong condemnation of the parties responsible for killing the three TNI soldiers. “We, brothers and sisters of the nation and homeland, strongly condemn every heinous act that destroys peace and causes the fall of the nation’s best soldiers,” Prabowo tweeted, quoted on Sunday (5 April 2026). He also called on all parties to continue the spirit and determination to maintain peace. “And not give space to anyone who seeks to divide national unity and harmony,” he added. The Army Chief of Staff (KSAD), General Maruli Simanjuntak, urged families of TNI soldiers serving in the peacekeeping mission in Lebanon not to worry amid the escalating security situation. He stressed that the soldiers deployed in the peacekeeping area understand the steps to take in various situations. “Yes, no need to worry. Actually, they know what needs to be done. But whatever it is, there are always risks in the midst of such events. The important thing is to pray, hopefully everything goes well. I think that’s it,” Maruli said when met at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Saturday (4 April 2026).
