When MBG Electric Motorcycles Are More Expensive Than Huntara Homes for Sumatera Residents

The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is preparing approximately 25,000 electric motorcycles to support the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme in the 2025 fiscal year. BGN explained that the vehicles are planned to be distributed to all Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) across various regions in Indonesia, particularly for use by SPPG chairpersons. Previously, a video circulating widely on social media showed a row of new motorcycles bearing the MBG logo. Upon investigation, the vehicles were identified as electric motorcycles of the Emmo JVX GT type. These motorcycles are supplied by PT Yasa Artha Trimanunggal, a private logistics company that has recently ventured into the electric vehicle business. The motorcycles are equipped with up to 7,000 watts of electric power, enabling speeds of around 85 km per hour. Meanwhile, according to information on Emmo’s official website, the price of the same motorcycle is set at approximately Rp 56.8 million. The company’s office is located in the Sentul area, Babakan Madang, Bogor, West Java. For comparison, the budget for procuring one such motorcycle for SPPG heads is far more expensive than the government’s allocation for building one temporary housing unit (huntara) for flood victims in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. In a report submitted to President Prabowo Subianto, the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Suharyanto, explained that the houses prepared for disaster victims are type 36 units. He stated that this type is deemed most appropriate to meet basic temporary housing needs, with construction that can be completed quickly. The cost per huntara unit is Rp 30 million. The housing is designed complete with supporting facilities, from bedrooms and bathing, washing, and toilet facilities (MCK) to other functional rooms. Suharyanto added that the construction of these temporary homes will be carried out by TNI-Polri Task Forces. He also revealed that one type of housing that can be built in a short time is modular housing. This housing model is increasingly being developed and marketed by private entities. Through this system, house construction can even be completed in just one day.
