When Luxury Enters the Electrification Era

In the luxury high MPV segment, premium consumer expectations continue to evolve. Today, luxury is no longer defined solely by cabin dimensions or brand heritage, but also by the quality of the driving experience, technological sophistication, and comfort that supports modern mobility.

Amid this transformation, the DENZA D9 is further cementing its position as a leading choice in Indonesia’s luxury high MPV segment. Entering mid-2026, this premium MPV has maintained its momentum, recording sales of more than 2,800 units throughout the year. Since its launch in January 2025, total sales have exceeded 10,000 units, far outpacing competitors in the same segment.

For a premium vehicle, high sales figures do not signify a loss of exclusivity. On the contrary, it demonstrates that more premium consumers are valuing driving experience, technology, and comfort as the new definition of luxury. This momentum also signals that Indonesian luxury MPV consumers are changing the way they choose their vehicles.

A quiet cabin as a new standard

The luxury high MPV segment has traditionally been used by professionals and established families for daily mobility, such as commuting to the office, attending business meetings, travelling to the airport, or accompanying family activities on weekends. User needs have also evolved. A premium MPV is no longer sufficient if it only offers a spacious cabin and luxurious features; it must also provide cabin quietness, minimal vibration, operational efficiency, ease of charging, and the ability to serve as an activity space during travel.

As a pure electric vehicle, the D9 offers a different driving character compared to conventional premium MPVs. Without an internal combustion engine, the cabin feels significantly quieter with minimal vibration, a crucial factor for users who spend considerable time on the road. Official information indicates that the D9’s cabin noise level is 64.8 dB when travelling at 120 km/h on the highway, highlighting the vehicle’s focus on cabin quietness as a key standard in the premium segment.

The premium impression of the cabin is further reinforced by the use of genuine wood trim on the interior. This element adds an elegant and warm ambience inside the cabin while emphasising the D9’s positioning as a vehicle that prioritises passenger comfort. To support the entertainment experience, the D9’s 14-speaker Dynaudio sound system delivers audio quality that creates a private lounge-like atmosphere during journeys. This system is designed to provide a more immersive audio and visual experience for both the driver and passengers.

The second-row seats are designed as the main space. At the heart of any premium MPV, the second-row seats are the focal point. In the Denza D9, this area is designed as the primary space for passengers. The D9 is equipped with ergonomic seats featuring 10-way power adjustment, 6-way power-adjustable headrests, and a 10-point massage function. This combination allows passengers to adjust their seating position according to their needs, whether for resting, working, or enjoying long-distance journeys. A storage box with heating and cooling functions adds further practical value.

While second-row comfort is a priority, the D9 retains the fundamental function of an MPV as a family vehicle. The corridor width to the third row reaches 170 mm, with legroom of up to 1,040 mm, maintaining comfort for rear passengers during family trips or when carrying more occupants.

Flexible mobility technology

The Denza D9 is built on the e-Platform 3.0. According to the official Denza website, the vehicle offers an NEDC range of up to 600 km, the ability to add 150 km of range in just 10 minutes of charging, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds. These specifications are significant in the premium MPV segment, where users typically require a vehicle that is not only comfortable for city driving but also capable of intercity travel with confidence.

To support charging needs, the Denza D9 adopts 800V high-voltage charging technology with dual-gun supercharging capability, enabling faster and more flexible charging. Additionally, the D9 features external discharge power of up to 6 kW and a 220V AC outlet with 2.2 kW power in the boot, which can be used for various additional needs during travel, such as supporting outdoor activities or powering electronic devices.

As an electric vehicle, the Denza D9 offers the potential for lower energy costs per kilometre compared to internal combustion engine vehicles. The electric drive system also has simpler mechanical components, resulting in lower long-term maintenance requirements.

Supporting comfort technology

The comfort of the Denza D9 relies not only on the cabin but also on the suspension and vehicle control systems. The D9 is equipped with DiSus-C, an intelligent body and chassis damping control system tuned by world-class experts to deliver excellent driving control. A Comfortable Control Technology (CCT) system is also available, maintaining front and rear balance during acceleration and deceleration. This technology is designed to ensure a smooth and comfortable journey, especially when the vehicle is fully loaded or travelling in varying road conditions.

In terms of technology, the Denza D9 features a BYD intelligent cockpit system based on an Android intelligent system. This system is supported by a 6 nm chip manufacturing process, 5G connectivity, and a voice assistant.
