When Khalid Basalamah Claims to Be a Victim and the Puzzle of Dollars Returned to the KPK

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Director or Owner of PT Zahra Oto Mandiri (Uhud Tour) Khalid Zeed Abdullah Basalamah claimed to have returned Rp 8.4 billion to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). This admission was made by Khalid after being examined as a witness by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding the alleged corruption case of the 2023-2024 hajj quota. “So, PT Muhibbah returned the funds to us, we didn’t know what the money was for. The amount was around Rp 8.4 billion, right? Yes, it was returned,” said Khalid, after being examined as a witness in the case at the Red and White Building, Jakarta, on Thursday (23/4/2026). Khalid claimed not to know the source of the money given by PT Muhibbah Mulia Wisata. “That money (Rp 8.4 billion) was given by PT Muhibbah, then we didn’t know what it was for, the KPK asked for it, we returned it when asked. That’s the extent of it. So, once again, in this case, we are the victims,” he said. “So, when the KPK asked for it, that’s when we returned it because we didn’t know the status of that money,” he added. Khalid stated that he was a victim in the alleged corruption case of the 2023-2024 hajj quota. Initially, he claimed to have only communicated with PT Muhibbah Mulia Wisata in Pekanbaru. Khalid said that Uhud Tour at that time only provided services in the form of hajj furoda, then PT Muhibbah offered a special hajj quota. “Then suddenly PT Muhibbah came offering it with the reason of official visas. When we had already issued the visas, we departed, what we knew was from PT Muhibbah,” said Khalid, at the Red and White Building, Jakarta, on Thursday (23/4/2026). “That’s why I describe us as victims,” he said. He also claimed to have never interacted with the owner of Biro Travel Haji Maktour, Fuad Hasan Masyur, regarding the implementation of special hajj worship. “No, interaction for matters like this certainly not,” he stated.
