When Jusuf Kalla Directly Reports Rismon Sianipar to Police Headquarters, Feeling His Dignity Attacked
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The controversy over the diploma of Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has entered a new phase following the reporting of digital forensic researcher Rismon Sianipar to Bareskrim Polri by Indonesia’s 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK). The report was received under number STTL/135/V/2026/BARESKRIM on Wednesday (8/4/2026). JK reported allegations of defamation and slander related to claims that he funded the Jokowi diploma controversy. He emphasised that he has never been involved in any funding efforts as alleged. “Oh yes, as you know, I came to file a police report. It turns out the process is quite lengthy,” Jusuf Kalla said after submitting the report. JK stated that the accusations that he financed certain parties to question Jokowi’s diploma are untrue and unfounded. “Because it says I funded friends to question Mr Jokowi’s diploma. And I clearly did not do that,” he asserted. According to JK, the accusations tarnish his dignity as a public figure, especially since the information has spread widely in society. “First, this has spread widely, and for me, this is an insult because it is very unethical,” he said. He also responded to the claim that he provided Rp5 billion in funds to certain parties to investigate alleged fake diplomas of Jokowi. JK emphasised his very good relationship with Jokowi, as they worked together in government for five years. “Mr Jokowi is a former president and I was his vice. We were together in government for five years,” he said. Nevertheless, when filing this case, JK admitted he had not communicated with Jokowi first. JK felt this was his right, as his dignity had been attacked.
