When JAKI Report Photos Are Manipulated...

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Jakarta citizen complaint system via the JAKI app is currently under intense scrutiny. A series of practices involving the manipulation of task completion reports by rogue field officers is now being uncovered, ranging from engineering timestamps or time details to the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-generated photos. Officers were caught using one identical photo for two different reports while managing traffic flow. In the first report, the photo had an automatic timestamp from the app showing 25 October 2025 at 08.40 WIB. However, in the second report, a photo that was highly identical in location and surrounding atmosphere was reused and manipulated with a timestamp of 23 October 2025 at 09.00 WIB. The case is currently being processed. “That is true (there are officers manipulating reports with fake timestamps), and we have already found (the evidence). At present, the case is being processed and we will coordinate with the inspectorate for examination,” said Budi in his official statement on Wednesday (8/4/2026). Budi appreciated the public’s participation in monitoring JAKI reports and assured that sanctions would be applied without favouritism. “We also emphasise that every party involved will be sanctioned if proven to have manipulated reports. This is important to maintain the integrity and trust in the existing complaint system,” stressed Budi. A field report on handling illegal parking issues was manipulated using an AI-generated photo. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung revealed that the violation in Kalisari was not the first time it had been committed by the same individual. “The case in Kalisari turns out not to be the first case, and the perpetrator is the same person,” said Pramono at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday (9/4/2026).
