Israeli soldiers, who were recently featured on the cover of the Italian magazine L’Espresso a few weeks ago, have once again come under the spotlight. This follows the circulation of a video documenting their authoritarian behaviour in the West Bank. According to Al Jazeera on Saturday (18/4/2026), the video has spread widely among social media users, garnering almost 3 million views within 24 hours of being uploaded. The Israeli organisation Breaking the Silence uploaded a video via its account on the platform X, recording a soldier engaged in a verbal altercation with someone in a car. In the video, the following conversation takes place: Person in the car: Explain the reason? Israeli soldier: Join the police, or join the army, then come and talk to me. Person in the car: But you can’t say (…) Israeli soldier (interrupting): Everyone out, please! Everyone out, please! No police! I’m in charge in this area. I’m in charge in the field.
