When Is Nuzulul Quran 2026? Muhammadiyah and Government Schedules
Nuzulul Quran is one of the most significant commemorations for Muslims, observed every 17 Ramadan. The occasion marks the revelation of the Quran to the Prophet Muhammad as guidance for humanity.
As such, many Muslims have begun seeking information on the date of Nuzulul Quran 2026. The date may differ due to variations in determining the start of Ramadan, which is based on the government’s isbat session ruling and the hisab (astronomical calculation) methods used by Islamic organisations.
Muhammadiyah’s Nuzulul Quran: 6 March 2026
According to the decree issued by the Central Leadership (PP) of Muhammadiyah on the determination of hisab results for Ramadan, Syawal, and Zulhijah 1447 Hijriah, the start of Ramadan 1447 H falls on Wednesday, 18 February 2026. Consequently, the Nuzulul Quran commemoration will fall on Friday, 6 March 2026.
This determination is based on the hisab hakiki wujudul hilal method used by Muhammadiyah. This method calculates the moon’s position astronomically to determine the beginning of Hijriah months, including the dates of important Islamic commemorations such as Nuzulul Quran.
Government’s Nuzulul Quran: 7 March 2026
Based on the results of the isbat session held by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, the start of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah has been set for Thursday, 19 February 2026. The isbat session serves as the government’s official reference for determining the beginning of the fasting period.
With this determination, the Nuzulul Quran commemoration will fall on Saturday, 7 March 2026. This date serves as the official guideline for the Nuzulul Quran commemoration by the government and Muslims in Indonesia who follow the isbat session ruling.
The difference in dates is considered normal due to the varying methods of determining the start of Hijriah months. Nevertheless, the Nuzulul Quran commemoration remains an important moment for Muslims to deepen their understanding of and strengthen their devotion to the Quran during Ramadan.
