Jakarta (ANTARA) – The commemoration of World Forest Day serves as a reminder that forests are not merely natural landscapes, but living spaces that support ecosystem balance and the sustainability of human life.

Forests play a crucial role in maintaining air quality, absorbing carbon emissions, protecting biodiversity, and serving as a source of livelihood for millions of people, including ultra-micro groups across various regions in Indonesia.

The Food and Agriculture Organization’s Global Forest Resources Assessment 2020 report notes that the world lost around 10 million hectares of forest annually during the 2015–2020 period. This data indicates that forest conservation efforts remain a global challenge requiring collective action.

In this context, the business world also has an important role in preserving environmental sustainability. Through the Green Impact programme as part of Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL), PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) continues to drive tangible contributions to forest conservation.

By November 2025, PNM has contributed to the planting of 75,000 trees in various regions of Indonesia. In 2026, PNM targets an additional planting of 85,000 trees as part of ongoing efforts to support ecosystem recovery.

This programme not only focuses on planting but also on building collective awareness of the importance of environmental protection. The activities involve the community, including PNM customers, thereby creating impacts that are not only ecological but also social.

PNM Corporate Secretary Dodot Patria Ary stated that preserving environmental sustainability is a shared responsibility that must be maintained consistently.

“Let us continue to protect environmental sustainability together. From small steps taken collectively, greater impacts will grow for nature and future generations,” he said.

Through these steps, PNM hopes to continue contributing to preserving forests as a source of life, while strengthening collective efforts to create a more sustainable future.
