In the past, banking and securities companies operated in their respective lanes. Banks focused on gathering savings, facilitating transactions, and disbursing loans, while securities companies encouraged users to enter the world of investment. Now, these two paths have converged through collaboration.

The depiction of this change is evident in the launch of a strategic partnership between PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk and Ajaib Group at the Indonesia Stock Exchange, Jakarta, Friday (7/8/2026). This collaboration combines banking services and stock investment into a single digital experience.

The Director of Consumer and Emerging Business Banking at CIMB Niaga, Noviady Wahyudi, stated that, until now, banking and securities companies have their own applications. Bank customers who wish to invest in stocks, for example, must access the stock platform.

Similarly, stock investors must switch to banking applications to take advantage of financial services, such as saving, applying for loans, and enjoying wealth management. With this collaboration, various activities are integrated into a single platform.

CIMB Niaga customers, for example, can open an Ajaib account and a customer fund account (RDN) with CIMB Niaga through OCTO, CIMB Niaga’s banking application. On the other hand, Ajaib users have access to CIMB Niaga’s banking solutions that can support the financial needs of customers.

“So, (with this collaboration), there are no longer any boundaries between banking apps, stock apps, and trading apps. The hope is that customers can start and manage their stock portfolios from just one app,” said Noviady. This collaboration also complements OCTO’s investment instruments, namely mutual funds, bonds, and gold trading.

According to him, there are three reasons for this strategic partnership. First, this collaboration is expected to provide a one-stop financial solution. “We want our customers’ various financial needs to be within one ecosystem,” he said.

Secondly, with this collaboration, the parties hope to reach more young and independent investors. As is known, Ajaib has become one of the stock platforms for young people. Thirdly, this collaboration is expected to have an impact on the community, particularly in helping residents pursue their financial dreams.

The integration of banking services and stock trading will add options for customers in managing their finances. According to Noviady, there are three types of customers who wish to invest in CIMB Niaga. First, the conservative customers, who tend to avoid risks despite the small profits.

Second, adventurous customers, who seek high potential returns from investments despite the inherent risks. “Furthermore, there are those with a greater risk appetite, who are more dynamic in their investments. So, we have all the solutions for these types of customers,” he said.

With this integration, Noviady is optimistic that around 3.8 million OCTO users will have the opportunity to develop investments in the stock sector. “By 2027, we hope to reach 1 million people from this collaboration, both CIMB Niaga customers and Ajaib,” he stated.

Regarding the duration of the collaboration with Ajaib, the party stated that this collaboration is a long-term commitment. Moreover, they continued, integrating two services with different systems into a single platform is not an easy task. On the other hand, this partnership will facilitate customers in making investments.

The Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Ajaib, Anderson Sumarli, stated that this strategic partnership is a breakthrough in the financial industry. “This is the first time that a securities company and a banking institution from different companies can unite. We hope this will be a breath of fresh air for the Indonesian capital market, especially for the youth,” he said.

He stated that young people want to invest in stocks in a simple, easily understood, and easily executed manner, making it a part of their daily lives. This convenience is what Ajaib aims to provide to its 6 million customers and millions of CIMB Niaga users.

When the investing experience feels simple, people will be more confident to start and invest more actively.

“Because when the investing experience feels simple, people will be more confident to start and invest more actively. When they feel comfortable, they’re more likely to develop sustainable investment habits, without being fixated on the daily ups and downs of the market,” said Anderson.

They also believe that investment should not stand alone. Investment must be part of a comprehensive financial experience. That is why they are collaborating with CIMB Niaga. This partnership is not merely about connecting two services, but rather weaving together two previously separate journeys, namely the banking journey and the investment journey.

This collaboration, he continued, also demonstrates that innovation does not always have to originate from a single company or corporate group. “Sometimes innovation actually arises when two institutions with different strengths choose to collaborate in order to provide a better experience for their respective clients,” he stated.

According to Anderson, the future of the financial industry isn’t about who has the most products. Instead, it’s determined by who can deliver the best customer experience to the public.

They also hope that this collaboration can enhance education about sustainable investment for Indonesian youth. According to him, the challenge for the financial industry today is not solely about how to make young people aware of investing.

“I believe that today’s challenge is how to assist the Indonesian people, including the youth, in continuing to invest in a more integrated manner,” stated
