WhatsApp Web Introduces Voice and Video Calling Features
WhatsApp has introduced new features that allow users to make and receive voice and video calls directly through WhatsApp Web without needing to download the desktop application. The company stated that users can now conduct audio and video calls, both individual and group, directly from their browser, which is particularly useful for shared computers or work laptops that do not permit app installations.
Group call organisers will also gain more control through a new Waiting Room feature. When the ‘Require approval to join’ option is enabled for a group call link, participants are placed in a virtual waiting room until the host admits them.
Additionally, the platform is enhancing call quality with QuickHD, which enables high-definition video from the start of a call, and a Noise Suppression feature designed to reduce background noise for clearer conversations. WhatsApp confirmed that all these new features will be rolled out gradually and will soon be available to all users.
