WhatsApp Web error this morning: login redirected to Facebook
WhatsApp Web service experienced outages on Wednesday morning (20 May 2026) with users reporting they could not log in and were redirected to Facebook instead of the WhatsApp Web QR code. Observations by KompasTekno show complaints rising on social media from around 06.00 WIB, and reports of the disruption extending beyond Indonesia to other regions globally. Downdetector Indonesia also logged an increase in reports about WhatsApp issues, with the majority citing login problems and inability to access WhatsApp Web. Some users on X (Twitter) said they were confused because the login page for WhatsApp Web did not appear as usual. User @Andika15_ reported failing to log in as the browser opened Facebook rather than the WhatsApp Web QR code. Additional complaints came from user @jinjjachuaeyo who noted that WhatsApp Web was unusable for work this morning. While this caused minor panic among some workers starting their day, the disruption did not affect all users in Indonesia. A number of users confirmed that they could still use WhatsApp Web without issue, including KompasTekno’s own account. As of this report, Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, had not issued an official statement about the cause of the disruption.
