WhatsApp to Roll Out 'WhatsApp Plus' Subscription Plan — Here Are the Benefits
WhatsApp is reportedly developing a premium subscription scheme called WhatsApp Plus for the consumer versions of the WhatsApp app on Android and iOS. The WhatsApp Plus subscription is expected to be optional, meaning users will not be required to subscribe to continue using WhatsApp as usual. However, the package is still in development and has not been released publicly, according to WABetaInfo, a site that frequently shares leaks about WhatsApp features.
Under this paid package, WhatsApp is expected to offer several additional features, primarily relating to customising the app’s appearance and enhancing the user experience. It is said that WhatsApp is preparing around 14 new app icons for users to choose from. In addition, there will be various colour options for interface elements, allowing users to tailor the look to their preferred visual style.
WhatsApp Plus is also believed to extend the capability of the pinned chat feature. At present, WhatsApp allows users to pin up to three chats at the top of the chat list. Through this subscription, that limit would be expanded to up to 20 chats, meaning users could add 17 extra chats beyond the current standard.
The WhatsApp Plus package is also expected to bring more features in the future. One of them is exclusive stickers reportedly available only to paying subscribers and not accessible to free users.
Additionally, WhatsApp is said to be developing enhancements to the way messages relate to each other that could be made more interactive and immersive. The aim is to make conversations feel more dynamic for users.
As compiled by KompasTekno from GSMArena, WhatsApp has not announced a price or an official launch date for the WhatsApp Plus subscription package. The features currently under development may still change before they are officially introduced to the public.
