WhatsApp is preparing a message-scheduling feature
Jakarta (ANTARA) – WhatsApp is reportedly preparing a message-scheduling feature that will allow users to set recurring reminders, manage messages across time zones and handle business communications outside working hours.
According to Engadget on Monday, WaBetaInfo spotted the feature in a beta version of WhatsApp for Android.
The message-scheduling feature, which appeared in WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.26.8.11, works in a similar way to a feature already available on Telegram.
Users can access it by tapping and holding the send button, which brings up a dialogue at the bottom of the screen where they can select the date and time for a message to be sent.
A dedicated section is also available to manage scheduled messages before they are sent. Messages will be delivered at the specified time even if the device is offline.
Messages can be scheduled from 10 minutes to two weeks in advance.
The message-scheduling feature can also be used in group chats.
The beta version of the feature is currently available only to some WhatsApp testers on Android and is expected to be rolled out to more accounts in the coming weeks.
