Jakarta (ANTARA) — WhatsApp has introduced four new group-chat features to help users manage and keep up with conversations, particularly when message traffic is heavy.

“Busy group chats mean lots of plans are being made, news is being shared and jokes are flowing. But they can also mean having many messages waiting to be read when you are busy. Today, we are introducing four updates to make it easier for you to pick up where you left off,” WhatsApp said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.

The first update gives users a longer pinning option. They can now pin important messages in a group permanently, without having to set a time limit in advance.

Second, WhatsApp has introduced a feature for sharing message history with new members. Users can now retroactively send someone recent chat history after they join a group simply by tapping their name in the conversation.

The third feature is Group Status, which allows users to share moments or everyday updates specifically with members of a particular group.

All members of that group can view and respond to the updates, as well as add their own Status, which will disappear automatically after 24 hours.

The final update adds chat filters based on mentions and replies.

These filters will specifically show unread group conversations in which users have been mentioned, received a direct reply or been tagged with @everyone, helping them quickly catch up on the chats most relevant to them.
