WhatsApp Introduces Incognito Chat for Meta AI, Claiming High Privacy Security
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Meta has introduced the Incognito Chat feature for Meta AI on WhatsApp, which is claimed to provide fully private conversations with artificial intelligence (AI), with a primary focus on user privacy protection.
In an online video conference on Tuesday (12/5), Meta stated that the feature is built using “Private Processing” technology, or Private Processing, so users’ conversations with Meta AI cannot be viewed by third parties, including Meta itself.
“Incognito Chat with Meta AI is truly private; no one can read your conversations, not even us,” said VP & Head of Product for WhatsApp, Alice Newton-Rex.
Alice explained that the feature was introduced because more and more users are utilising AI to seek information and ask sensitive questions, ranging from financial issues, health, work, to personal documents.
She said privacy has been a primary concern since the company began developing AI integration in WhatsApp.
She explained that messages in Incognito Chat are processed in a secure environment that cannot be accessed by Meta or WhatsApp.
Conversations are also not stored and will disappear when the user exits the chat.
According to Alice, the system uses several layers of complex privacy and security technology.
“AI processes requests privately within a secret virtual machine in such a way that we cannot see its contents or know from which user the request originates,” she said.
Meta stated that the Incognito Chat feature will be launched on WhatsApp and the Meta AI app in the coming weeks.
The company also plans to introduce a “side-chat” based on Private Processing that allows users to receive AI assistance.
