WhatsApp Introduces AI-Powered Feature to Suggest Contextually Appropriate Chat Replies

WhatsApp has once again introduced several new feature updates to improve the user experience. One of the most prominent is a new capability that allows the app to generate AI-based reply suggestions directly from user conversations.

This feature is an evolution of the “Writing Help” tool, which was previously launched in August last year. Initially, the feature only assisted users in rephrasing sentences, correcting, and adjusting the tone of messages. Now, with the latest update, Writing Help can provide automatic reply suggestions to make messages feel more appropriate and aligned with the conversation context.

To access this feature, users simply tap the chat input field, select the sticker icon in the typing area, and then tap the pencil icon with a sparkling effect indicating the AI feature. WhatsApp emphasises that user privacy remains protected even when using this feature.

This step is seen as Meta’s effort to encourage users to utilise AI technology directly within the app, without needing external services like ChatGPT. Nevertheless, not all users are expected to be interested, as some people still prioritise more personal and authentic communication, especially in conversations with family and friends.
