JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has revealed several issues with the Coretax tax administration system. The problems are considered not merely technical but related to the initial design of the system.

“First, wrong design. Then I suspect Coretax was made convoluted and there might be room for business. We will fix it later,” Purbaya stated at the Ministry of Finance, Jakarta, on Wednesday (25/3/2026).

Purbaya assessed that the system design is the main source of obstacles. Other issues arise on the technology side, particularly the software used.

“Why is it difficult to use? One of its weaknesses is in the application connecting service which is actually slower,” he said.

The connecting service or integrator is said to slow down the system. This condition impacts user experience.

Problems also emerge in the user experience aspect. The tax language and terms are deemed too complicated for taxpayers.

“If the complaints are that it can’t be understood or the language is difficult to comprehend, that indeed can’t be fixed quickly, but we will continue to improve it,” he said.

The government is also providing leeway for tax reporting deadlines. The deadline for submitting the Annual Income Tax Notification Letter for individuals has been extended by one month.

“Fixed (extended). Until the end of April, one-month extension,” Purbaya said.

The extension shifts the reporting deadline from 31 March 2026 to 30 April 2026. This schedule is now aligned with corporate taxpayers.

This policy is taken to provide space for taxpayers still facing access issues. The government targets faster system improvements.
