What Was Discussed in Prabowo and Macron's Meeting?

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and French President Emmanuel Macron held a bilateral meeting at the Élysée Palace in Paris on Thursday, 28 May 2026. The cordial meeting commenced with a state welcome ceremony hosted by the French government for the Indonesian president. The ceremony took place at Les Invalides in Paris. President Prabowo arrived at approximately 3.30pm local time, dressed in a grey suit and black songkok. Upon arrival at Les Invalides, he was greeted by French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu. Prabowo and Lecornu engaged in a brief conversation before the welcoming ceremony began. To kick off the ceremony, a marching band played the national anthems of both countries at Les Invalides. President Prabowo paid respects to the Indonesian flag as the national anthem, Indonesia Raya, was performed. Following this, the Indonesian president and French prime minister boarded a military command vehicle to inspect the honour guard, saluting the troops. After the inspection, President Prabowo proceeded to the Élysée Palace, escorted by 146 cavalry troops and 27 motorised personnel. Accompanying President Prabowo were Foreign Minister Sugiono, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto, Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani, and Indonesian Ambassador to France Mohamad Oemar.
