What Time is the Isbat Session? Check the Schedule

The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) of the Republic of Indonesia has scheduled the Sidang Isbat for determining 1 Syawal 1447 Hijriah or Eid al-Fitr 2026 for today, Thursday, 19 March 2026. This session serves as the official reference for the public to determine when Lebaran 2026 begins. The session will be held at the H.M. Rasjidi Auditorium, Ministry of Religious Affairs Office, Central Jakarta, involving astronomy experts, ulama, and representatives from Islamic mass organisations. The Isbat session proceedings are divided into three main stages, running from afternoon to evening. The Indonesian government uses the Imkanur Rukyat method, which refers to the MABIMS criteria (Ministers of Religious Affairs of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore). Based on these criteria, the crescent moon is considered to meet the requirements if it has a minimum altitude of 3 degrees and a minimum elongation angle of 6.4 degrees. Kemenag has deployed moon sighting officers at 177 points across all provinces in Indonesia to conduct direct observations (rukyatul hilal) this evening.
