The declaration of an organisation named Yakuza Maneges in Kediri City, East Java, has recently drawn public attention. Although its name resembles that of the Japanese mafia syndicate, this group has opposing aims, concentrating on social and spiritual movements for marginalised communities.

According to information from Detikcom, quoted on Friday (15/5/2026), this community serves as a platform for empowerment and dakwah for groups of society that are often sidelined. Yakuza Maneges operates under the guidance of Gus Thuba, promoting an inclusive dakwah spirit inspired by the teachings of the legendary Kediri cleric, Gus Miek.

Yakuza Maneges was established under the leadership of Gus Thuba. It is said to emerge with an inclusive dakwah spirit inspired by the teachings of the charismatic cleric from Kediri, Gus Miek.

Gus Thuba, a young figure known for his closeness to spirituality and pesantren culture, officially launched the Yakuza Maneges community in Kediri. It is a social-spiritual movement built on a distinctive ideological foundation to embrace marginalised society.

The inauguration was attended by Kediri Mayor Vinanda Prameswati, who gave a warm welcome to the birth of the community.

Gus Thuba, whose full name is Thuba Topo Broto Maneges, admits to being strongly inspired by the example of Gus Miek. He adopts Gus Miek’s approach as the dakwah methodology applied directly in the field.

The relationship between Gus Thuba and Gus Miek is spiritual and ideological. Gus Thuba inherits the viewpoint that people considered ‘naughty’, ‘thugs’, or ‘castaways’ are actually the true field for dakwah. They are not to be judged, but rather embraced and empowered.

Ideology of Yakuza Maneges

The name ‘Yakuza’ often sparks controversy. However, Gus Thuba emphasises that the name was chosen deliberately and carries its own meaning.

“Under my leadership, this organisation stands with a strong spirit of spirituality and humanity. Yakuza Maneges is a place for our brothers whom we often call ‘left-path santri’,” explained Gus Thuba in his speech, quoting Detikcom.
