What is the Result of Social Minister Gus Ipul's Report to the KPK Regarding the Rp 27 Billion Shoe Budget?

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Social Minister (Mensos) Syaifullah Yusuf, alias Gus Ipul, has submitted details of the shoe procurement for students at People’s Schools, which had attracted public attention due to its Rp 27 billion budget, to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Gus Ipul stated that the KPK provided numerous suggestions and corrections regarding the shoe procurement to serve as improvements for the Ministry of Social Affairs in closing corruption loopholes. “I want to convey that from the consultation results earlier, we received many inputs, many notes, many things that must serve as corrections and improvements for us so that prevention can be carried out earnestly, closing all loopholes, and ultimately ensuring a transparent and fair process,” said Gus Ipul after meeting with KPK leaders at the Merah Putih Building, Jakarta, on Friday (8/5/2026). Gus Ipul revealed several issues hindering the procurement of goods and services at the Ministry of Social Affairs. Secondly, the Ministry lacks sufficient human resources to handle procurement of goods and services, especially as the budget grows larger. Therefore, he sought input from the KPK on whether it is possible for his ministry to conduct procurement through other institutions and parties in accordance with legal regulations. “Through procurement agents permitted by law. This is a new idea for us to seek further advice from the KPK,” he said. “The results of the monitoring conducted by the KPK will serve as guidelines for us to improve our performance in the future,” he added. The Social Minister also disclosed that the shoe procurement for students at People’s Schools with a Rp 27 billion budget was implemented in 2025.
