What is the New Indonesia like?
What is the New Indonesia like?
From Media Indonesia
The answer to the question "What is the New Indonesia like" depends much on the individual person's picture of this country. For instance, in the eyes of Budiman Sudjatmiko, Hendardi, Munir, Muchtar Pakpahan and Juanda, perhaps the concept of a New Indonesia is not the same as ours, even the government's. For them, perhaps a New Indonesia is ideally one without the Military, a powerful labor force, and so on.
New Indonesia in each ones eyes may be different. Even thinking about it seems to be too ideal. We may have been cheated by our own fantasy.
If conflicts continue, not only among religions, a New Indonesia that is just and prosperous will be impossible to realize. It seems that religion will remain a problem in this country.
Accordingly, I am of the opinion that we may need the Military again to help us straighten out things provided that they are strong and compact and of course far from their past image, where they were seen as ignoring moral values. If our military turns into a new military, Indonesia still has some hope to step forward together toward a brighter future.
A New Indonesia is then one in which there is religious harmony and understanding, the military has good morals and we are free of those who make the country their enemy.
