What is Known About the LRT Jabodebek Suddenly Losing Power in Cawang

The LRT Jabodebek experienced a sudden power failure at Cawang Station. KAI has apologised and explained the incident. The LRT lost power on Wednesday (22/7) at 07.43 WIB. Officers conducted an inspection at Cawang Station on the affected train. “PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) apologises for the disruption to the LRT Jabodebek service that occurred on one of the trains,” said Manager of Public Relations for LRT Jabodebek, Radhitya Mardika, in a statement. Passengers were asked to disembark from the train for safety reasons. They were then directed to alight at Cawang Station to continue their journey on the next train. “To ensure travel safety, officers directed passengers to transfer to the next train at Cawang Station. All field officers were deployed to assist passengers during the transfer process,” he said. The incident caused a delay of approximately 10 minutes. Operations on the LRT Jabodebek have since returned to normal. “KAI apologises for the inconvenience caused by this disruption. Passengers are advised to follow the directions of field officers and obtain the latest information through the official LRT Jabodebek channels,” he added. A passenger, Riana Evira, reported hearing a loud noise from beneath the carriage before the train lost power at Cawang Station. “I was on the Bekasi line train departing from Halim Station heading to Cawang. Midway, there was a loud noise from under the carriage,” Riana said. She explained that after the noise, the air conditioning and some lights went out, and the engine became silent. “After that, the AC and some lights went off, the train engine also went silent. Fortunately, the train kept moving until it reached Cawang LRT Station,” she said. Upon arriving at Cawang Station, she heard another loud noise. The train doors were open and passengers immediately exited. “Arriving at Cawang LRT at 07.43 WIB, the doors opened, most passengers were still inside the train. There was a second loud noise, and all passengers exited,” she said. The disembarked passengers then continued their journey on the next train. “After the train was empty, the doors closed. We waited less than 15 minutes for the next train to arrive,” she added.
