The Gelora Bung Karno Complex Management Centre (PPKGBK) has explained the fate of guests who had already booked rooms at Hotel Sultan after the execution and takeover of assets on Thursday (18/6). PPKGBK President Director Rakhmadi Afif Kusumo said guests with bookings in the near future are asked to come to a post opened around Hotel Sultan. “If it’s in the near future, for example tomorrow or today or the day after, please come directly to our post, there is a Crisis Center. Earlier, several had already come and were immediately moved to several hotels in the Senayan area,” said Rakhmadi at Hotel Sultan on Thursday. However, he said GBK management does not provide compensation because the contract was made by guests with the previous Hotel Sultan management, namely PT Indobuildco. “They booked themselves and this permit we must also straighten out, they also paid themselves,” he said. He said PPKGBK will record guests who have booked at Hotel Sultan. “Later, our legal colleagues will certainly also try to help as much as possible regarding the booking or contractual relationships of the parties or consumers, whom we understand may have booked online or directly with the previous party. So from there, we can help after we cross-check first,” he said. On the same occasion, PPKGBK’s legal counsel, Chandra M Hamzah, emphasised that the room booking contract occurred between the consumer and the previous Hotel Sultan management, namely PT Indobuildco, not with PPKGBK. According to him, PPKGBK has no contractual ties with these consumers. “So the party that has the obligation to provide the facilities is Indobuildco. PPKGBK has no contractual ties with them, but, our note is this, on the PPKGBK website it was also conveyed that this execution would be carried out on the 18th. If someone booked while already knowing it would be executed, the good faith is good faith, please think about it yourself,” said Chandra. Chandra also revealed that PPKGBK is still recording occupants who are still in the hotel and apartment area. The data collection is to ensure whether these occupants are genuine guests who are actually staying or were deliberately placed there ahead of the execution process. “There are occupants, but they are being recorded. We will ask, we will ask them, whether they are genuine occupants or pseudo-occupants who were told to have a staycation here. We are checking, their names, addresses, proof of payment, and for how long, a day, two days, three days,” he said. The execution process of Hotel Sultan today was marked by commotion. A crowd rejecting the execution threw stones and mineral water bottles at officers. Officers responded by spraying the crowd with a water cannon. As many as 119 people were arrested by police as a result of the commotion. In addition, 29 people were also reported injured due to the disturbance, ranging from Polri and TNI personnel to civilians.
