What are the Hajj Costs in Arab Countries This Year Amidst the Iran Conflict?
The costs of implementing the Hajj pilgrimage this season show striking differences across various Arab countries and the Islamic world. This is influenced by varying pressures on airfares, accommodation, and logistical services. Nevertheless, several Hajj organisers and travel agencies in several countries are striving to keep costs within reasonable limits to avoid placing an excessive financial burden on pilgrims.
Data collected by Aljazeera.Net correspondents indicates that some Arab nations are experiencing relative stability in Hajj costs, despite increases in certain travel and hotel components. Conversely, other countries have recorded significant surges in costs.
Morocco
Flights for Moroccan pilgrims to the Holy Land are ongoing via 78 flights, including 69 flights to Medina. The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs of Morocco has set the final Hajj cost for the 22,200 regular government pilgrims at approximately 63,000 Moroccan Dirhams (around $6,878 USD or approximately IDR 121 million at current exchange rates). Meanwhile, the cost for pilgrims using travel agencies, serving around 11,800 pilgrims, ranges from 75,000 Dirhams ($8,189 USD) to 160,000 Dirhams ($17,469 USD or approximately IDR 307 million). These figures can be even higher depending on the proximity of the hotel to Masjidil Haram and the quality of services provided.
