WFH Regulations to be Issued Soon, Airlangga: Await Prabowo's Green Light
JAKARTA - The government is set to announce a work-from-home (WFH) policy as part of efforts to save on fuel oil (BBM) consumption. However, the final decision awaits approval from President Prabowo Subianto.
Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that the policy is targeted for announcement before April 2026.
“It will be soon, before April,” said Airlangga when met at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy office in Jakarta on Friday (27/3/2026).
Meanwhile, for the private sector, this policy will be in the form of a recommendation.
Nevertheless, Airlangga has not detailed the exact announcement time because the plan will first be reported to the President on the same day.
“Approximately this week,” he said briefly.
Purbaya assessed that the impact of the policy cannot be viewed from one side alone.
An increase in economic activity could actually occur alongside the implementation of this policy.
According to Purbaya, increased economic activity has a positive impact on businesses and increases tax revenues.
“But if my taxes also rise in line with that, then I’m benefiting too,” added Purbaya.
Purbaya further stated that the government’s approach in assessing the WFH policy is comprehensive, including considerations of productivity and state revenues.
Regarding the implementation scheme, one option that has emerged is carrying out WFH one day per week.
