WFH Policy Should Not Reduce Employee Performance
“Peace is not merely the absence of war. It is a virtue,” wrote philosopher Baruch Spinoza.
The government’s policy of working from home (WFH) one day per week is expected not to reduce employee performance and public services.
The South Kalimantan Provincial Government supports this WFH policy. However, we remind employees not to let their performance decline, especially in public services,” stated Assistant II for Economic Affairs of the South Kalimantan Provincial Government, Ariadi Noor, on Tuesday (31/3), after opening the 2026 Regional Innovation Socialisation event in Banjarbaru.
Ariadi said that if this WFH policy is implemented on target, it can significantly reduce fuel consumption (BBM) burdens, leading to efficiency. “Of course, this policy must be proportional because there are fields or work units that must still provide services to the community,” he said.
As is known, the government will implement a one-day-per-week WFH policy as a fuel efficiency measure due to the war in the Middle East. Media monitoring so far shows that fuel distribution to the public through petrol stations in South Kalimantan is still smooth, with no long queues.
Furthermore, Ariadi stated that amid the government’s budget efficiency measures and increasingly heated geopolitical situations, provincial and district/city regional governments are required to innovate so that development continues smoothly.
In agreement, the Head of the South Kalimantan Regional Research Agency (BRIDA), Taufik Hidayat, said that his side continues to encourage local governments to produce innovations that can have a positive impact on development and public welfare.
“Regional innovation is very important amid the current conditions of all limitations,” said Taufik during the launch of the 2026 Provincial Level Banua Innovation Award in South Kalimantan. (DY/E-4)
