WFH for Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education Civil Servants, Integrated Service Unit Remains Open
The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education states that civil servants (ASN) within its organisation will continue to follow the government’s work-from-home (WFH) scheme. However, several public services are said to remain operational.
Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti stated that the implementation of WFH in his ministry is not absolute, particularly for units that directly interact with the public.
“If ASN in the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education follow the government rules. But there are certain services like the ULT (Integrated Service Unit) that we have, which will remain open,” Mu’ti said when met at the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education office on Wednesday night, 1 April 2026.
According to him, the ULT must continue to operate because it serves to accommodate various public needs, from questions, input, to complaints that require quick responses.
This policy refers to government regulations that keep public services open even as flexible work schemes are applied. In the context of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, services deemed vital will continue as usual.
Meanwhile, Mu’ti emphasised that the WFH policy does not apply to educators with ASN status. Teachers are still required to be present at school during teaching and learning activities. “If teachers still come in. They are exempted. So if the students come, the teachers come,” he said.
