WFH Extended for Two Months, Airlangga Says Could Cut Fuel Consumption by Up to 9%
The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, believes the extension of the work-from-home (WFH) policy will reduce fuel consumption. According to evaluations, since the WFH policy was implemented, the use of Pertalite fuel has decreased by nearly 9% in April 2026. “We evaluated WFH over two months and the results were quite positive, with Pertalite usage dropping by almost 9% in April,” Airlangga said in Jakarta on Tuesday, 26 May 2026. “The results are positive, so it has been decided to extend the policy,” he added. The government has officially extended WFH for the next two months. For implementation, the Ministry of State Apparatus Utilisation and Bureaucratic Reform (KemenPAN-RB) will issue a new circular regarding WFH for civil servants. Similarly, the State-Owned Enterprises Regulatory Body (BP BUMN) will issue a separate circular. Meanwhile, for the private sector, the Ministry of Manpower (Kemenaker) will issue a circular advising WFH. Previously, Airlangga stated that the government has prepared further economic policies, including a two-month WFH period, as part of a strategy to maintain national economic growth momentum amid global dynamics. He added that the two-month WFH implementation is part of the government’s adjustment to economic and labour policies.
