WFH Every Friday: ASN Reminded to Maintain Productivity

A member of Commission II of the House of Representatives, Muhammad Khozin, has reminded civil servants (ASN) to maintain productivity during the implementation of work from home (WFH) every Friday. “ASN productivity must remain maintained in providing public services,” Khozin stressed to Kompas.com on Wednesday (1/4/2026). To maintain ASN productivity, he encouraged periodic supervision and evaluation of those working from home. “We request that the WFH implementation carried out every Friday be evaluated periodically and supervised consistently by ministries and agencies as well as regional governments,” Khozin said. He himself highlighted the choice of Friday as the day for working from home, which he deemed not ideal and potentially turning into a long weekend. Nevertheless, he urged the government to utilise this momentum to seriously design better public transportation in the regions. “In the implementation of this WFH, it is not merely a bureaucratic matter, but related to public transportation and the momentum for pollution control in the regions. Cross-ministerial and agency coordination must be carried out. Once again, this momentum must be utilised for the common good,” Khozin stated. On a different occasion, the Minister of State Apparatus Utilization and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB), Rini Widyantini, is preparing performance evaluations for ASN following the work-from-home policy every Friday. “For all ASN, we will continue to conduct evaluations of PPPK and evaluations of performance,” Rini said in a press conference. “We have provided eKinerja, where every government agency has a direct link to use performance assessments through the eKinerja provided by the State Civil Service Agency,” Rini added. ASN undergoing WFH every Friday are required to keep their mobile phones active during working hours. This regulation is enforced so that the presence of ASN can be monitored through the location feature available on every smartphone.
