WFH and B50 Strengthening Discussed to Address Global Turmoil
Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto held a coordination meeting with several economic ministers on 28 March 2026. In the meeting, Airlangga outlined a series of strategic government steps to address global geopolitical turmoil impacting energy stability.
Airlangga stated that the virtual meeting served as a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto’s directives on economic policy. “In this meeting, various strategic steps were discussed, ranging from adaptive work-from-home (WFH) arrangements, budget efficiency, strengthening the B50 policy, to proposals for national energy savings,” he wrote on his official Instagram account @airlanggahartarto_official on Saturday, 28 March 2026.
In his Instagram post, Airlangga included screenshots of several ministers involved in the online meeting. Among them were Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Manpower Minister Yassierli, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian, Minister for State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan-RB) Rini Widyantini, and President Director of PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) Darmawan Prasodjo.
According to Airlangga, all these steps will be comprehensively reviewed. “Considering the developments in the Middle East conflict and global uncertainties impacting energy stability, supply chains, and the national economy,” he said.
The government ensures that each policy is implemented in a measured and responsive manner. Previously, the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy had scheduled an announcement of government policies on Middle East geopolitical turmoil for 28 March 2026. However, the press conference was postponed while the details of the policies are being prepared.
The government had previously stated that policies such as working from home would be implemented after Eid al-Fitr. Airlangga said this policy applies to civil servants (ASN) and is also recommended for the private sector. “(The WFH) rules will be detailed. But after Eid, we will implement it. For ASN as well as recommendations for the private sector. However, not for those working in public service sectors.”
The WFH policy will only apply for one day per week. He added that the government will also coordinate with the Ministry of Manpower and the Ministry of Home Affairs to ensure effective implementation.
